1920s
}1925:
Russell Conwell died at the age of 82. Conwell and his wife now lie in Founder’s Garden immediately north of Speakman Hall. A bronze sculpture of Conwell adorns their final resting place and commemorates his lifetime of achievements.
1926:
Charles Ezra Beury was named Temple’s second president.
A General Alumni Association, later renamed Temple University Alumni Association, was organized.
1929:
The trademark iron gates containing the university seal were created and installed at 18th and Buttonwood streets, the site of Temple’s early health sciences campus. In 1960 the gates were moved to the Main Campus entrance at Broad Street and Berks Mall, beside the Baptist Temple.
